If you have recently been diagnosed with a hiatal hernia (also known as a hiatus hernia) you likely have aHiatal Hernia Symptoms mountain of pressing questions regarding things such as the symptoms, treatment or even perhaps the dreaded “s” word — surgery.

Well, it’s important to first understand what a hernia is so let’s discuss the basic cause of a hiatal hernia. This type of hernia occurs when a portion of the stomach pushes upward and through the diaphragm. The diaphragm normally has a small opening (hiatus) that allows the body’s “food pipe” (esophagus) to pass through on its way to connect to the stomach.

Unfortunately for us sometimes the stomach can push up through this opening and this will cause a hiatal hernia.

So, What Are the Symptoms of a Hiatal Hernia?

Interestingly enough a small hiatal hernia often times doesn’t cause problems or have any symptoms at all; most of the time a person might not even know that they have a hiatal hernia unless a doctor discovers it, perhaps while checking for another condition, however, on the other hand a larger hiatal hernia can allow food and acid to back up into your esophagus leading to heartburn and chest pains.

Obviously in the case of the larger hernia, a patient will indeed feel the effects.

Some other hernia symptoms include severe pain or discomfort in the chest, belching, hiccups, or gurgling noises in the chest. Also note that symptoms may start to get worse after a person has eaten, soon after one lies down or when someone bends forward.

The good news is that with some self-care measures or medications we can usually relieve all of these symptoms fairly quickly. However, in the worst case scenario and if the hiatal hernia is large enough we may require surgery.  This will be determined by a physician on a case by case basis.

Occasionally, a hiatus hernia may lead to more serious problems because acid from the stomach can get into the esophagus and over time it may cause damage, this affects the lower end of your esophagus and can eventually lead to ulcers.

If the ulcers bleed, the vomiting of blood may potentially be induced. In this extreme case the patient should seek immediate medical attention, remember if you see blood in your vomit don’t delay a trip to the ER.

Types of Hiatal Hernia

Hiatal Hernia

There are two main types of a hiatal hernia.

The first is called the sliding hernia; this type is the most common, affecting 95% of the afflicted. In this case the stomach and the section of the esophagus that joins the stomach slide up into the chest through the hiatus.

The second type of hernia is known as a rolling hernia, also sometimes referred to as a paraesophageal hiatus hernia. This type accounts for the remaining 5%. While certainly much less common unfortunately it raises more concerns.

The esophagus and the stomach stay in their normal positions during a rolling hernia, but part of the stomach squeezes through the hiatus, landing it next to the esophagus, the great danger with this type of hernia is that the stomach can have its blood supply shut off or “strangled.”

What Are Typical Hernia Treatments?

The most common “medications” associated with hernias are typically antacids, which can be bought over the counter at a pharmacy, they can be taken in either liquid or tablet form based on preference.

Those containing magnesium or aluminum work by neutralizing stomach acid. Others contain an ingredient called alginate which forms a barrier floating to the top of the stomach preventing these contents from splashing back up to the esophagus.

If the antacids do not work for in your case or you find you need to take a very large dose to relieve your hernia symptoms it is a great idea to seek out a pharmacist so they can recommend an over the counter medicine such as proton pump inhibitor or an H2 blocker. The proton inhibitor completely stops acid production and can be very effective for instant relief.

Another medication which is available has to be prescribed, it is a called a motility stimulant and it helps stop your stomach contents from coming back up into the esophagus and quickens the rate at which the stomach empties.

There are holistic hernia treatments that you might want to discuss with a professional, such as herbs, acupuncture, and massage, in some cases they are very effective.  Of course, if these treatments fail, discussing corrective surgery with your doctor may be your only option.

How Exactly Did I Get a Hernia?

The exact reasons why you may have developed a hiatus hernia aren’t always fully understood.

However, commonly hernias tend to happen when the tough fibers that normally hold your gastro-esophageal sphincter in place stretch. The muscles of your diaphragm also become more flexible. Both of these can occur as we get older. In fact, about one in three people over 50 have a small hiatus hernia. Your family doctor is typically the one who will discover your condition, usually when conducting a general physical examination. He or she may also refer you to a Gastroenterologist, a doctor that specializes in healing digestive disorders.

How to Live With Your Hiatal Hernia

Here are some quick tips for living with a diagnosed hiatal hernia.

  • Firstly, eat small meals all day long instead of the typical three large meals most people eat, also cease eating several hours before bedtime.
  • If you are a smoker, the best solution is to quit because smoking greatly increases the risk of reflux problems. With all the helpful treatments and methods to quit smoking these days, there is no excuse.
  • Lose some weight, being obese or overweight increases the pressure inside your abdomen easily increasing the size of your hernia. Ouch, double whammy. Choose to eat a diet lower in carbohydrates and unhealthy trans fats. Do the very best you can to avoid spicy foods, caffeine, fizzy drinks, alcohol, chocolate and acidic foods.  Sure, it’s no fun, but it will help a great deal.
  • Wear loose-fitting clothes and comfortable clothes so as not to constrain the stomach area, try to avoid bending over or doing abdominal exercises, use your common sense here.

Your hiatal hernia symptoms may worsen under stress so keep that mind for there are several options to relieve stress such as deep breathing, yoga, or meditation.  If we strengthen our overall health intelligently we can mitigate our symptoms and live a relatively pain free, full life.

Hiatal Hernia Prevention

Now in order to stop these hernias from ever forming it is important to eat a diet that is healthy. What kind of diet is that? Well some people claim that a high fiber diet is the best option, but honestly, shoveling tons of fiber down your throat will only help your body push out the mess you created in your colon, it won’t actually eliminate the problem!

It’s a lot like using Drano to clean out your kitchen sink – sure the drain will work again, but only until the next time you dump a load of crap down it. Then it’s stopped up again and you’re stuck in an endless cycle of stopping up the drain and flushing it out, stopping it up and flushing it out. After a while you’ve got to end up asking yourself “Wouldn’t it be easier to NOT stop up the drain?”

How can you do that? Well, simply following a diet that doesn’t create that mess in your stomach or colon.

What kind of diet is that? A bland, no-frills, no taste diet full of restrictions and constant label checking? Or maybe a diet that restricts certain types of nutrients altogether, like the Atkins diet?

No and no! The word diet doesn’t always mean bland tasteless foods or insane restrictions; sometimes it just means watching what you eat and WHEN you eat it. Sound crazy? Maybe at first, but I want to introduce you to a new diet – a diet that doesn’t tell what to eat or how much to eat, simply WHEN to eat. Don’t believe me? Then try me…

Meats? Fine.

Pasta? Fine.

Veggies? Fine.

Eggs? Fine.

Cheeses? Fine.

Breads? Fine.

Poultry? Fine.

Fruits? Fine.

Seafood? Fine.

Dairy? Fine.

The simple truth is it’s not necessary to avoid your favorite foods, but it is very important to eat them in the right combinations, or at the right times. If you can do that, you have a real shot at living to a ripe old age with absolutely no hernia problems whatsoever.

Aren’t a few small changes in your life worth that peace of mind?

Hi Sherry,

I had been awake with terrible stomach pain since about 2 a.m. My stomach had been bad before but this was so different that I was ready to go to the hospital. My husband was away on a business trip so I was alone. I thought if only I could find something to help. I really didn’t want to go in for more tests that would show the same thing.

I had been on lots of medications for my stomach pain which all seemed to make it worse. This has been going on for 10 years, colonoscopy, scans, endoscoscopy, diagnosis; Hiatal Hernia, IBS, and Acid Reflux you name it. I finally ended up on Pepcid, 6 a day because none of those purple pills worked. Even at that I still was uncomfortable. The last six months, I had gained weight, I was bloated and miserable. My last ditch effort before the Dr. or hospital, I went on my computer to see what ulcer symptoms were or what I could do to stop the agony. Voila, there you were with your Great Taste No Pain plan. Being very doubtful but hopeful at the same time, I thought why not.

Here I am a month later to tell you that I am not taking the Pepcid. I am eating whatever I choose but the way you outline in your plan. I have lost 6 lbs. which really is a side benefit that I wasn’t looking for and I am one happy camper. I really have enjoyed using your recipes, what an adventure everything tastes great and I know that I can eat it without worry.

Thank you so much. I am sharing my story with anyone that will listen, especially my grown children.

I am 68. Never too late to start the best part of your life is it.

Sue

I was diagnosed with hiatal hernia and acid reflux. I have been on your plan for 2 years and it has given me new a new life, free of pain and lots of enjoyable eating. I have even been able to wean myself off the purple pill.

Thank you from my heart! I tell everyone my story if they will listen. I pray for you Sherry, that God will bless you richly for helping so many who thought there was no hope.

Since I was 16 years old, I have had occasions where I thought I was having a heart attack. Severe chest pain, and pain between my shoulder blades sent me to 3 different heart specialists over the years. They could find nothing wrong with my heart.

Following a trip to the emergency room for what I thought was yet another heart attack, I was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia in March of 2009 and told to take omeprazole “for the rest of your life,” to avoid esophageal cancer.” Got on the medicine right away and remained on it for the next 18 months. Didn’t feel that much better, but didn’t have any major reflux incidents.

Had a follow-up upper endoscopy and colonoscopy at this time and polyps were discovered in both areas. There had been none 1 year before. The doctor said these were probably caused by the medication. After conferring with a specialist, he stated the hernia wasn’t that serious and my chance of developing cancer from it was 1 in 10,000. That did it! I got online and found Great Taste No Pain and ordered it.

Since I’ve been on the plan, I have had no reflux, no pain (unless I cheat) and have lost 23 pounds!

I highly recommend this food plan to anyone with similar symptoms.

Hi Sherry,

On your Great Taste No Pain plan I have had no pain and can’t believe the difference. Last year I was diagnosed with diverticulitis and a hiatus hernia. All my Doctor every say is to eat very small meals often and stay off spicy foods.

My husband and I have always eaten well. We never eat rubbish or takeaways but I have had a lot of pain and always feel nausea most of the time. I have not been on medication for diverticulitis and hernia but have been taking Losec for reflux for quite some time. I am now going to start and cut down the Losec and gradually wean myself of it. We will see what happens.

Thanks for everything and keep up the good work – I am looking forward to working my way through your recipe book.

Regards,

Denise Y.

Hi Sherry,

Here is what your “Great Taste No Pain plan” has done for me.

I was diagnosed with acid reflux and hiatus hernia by my doctor. He gave me a prescription of Lansoprazole 30 mg. This caused a burning (like heartburn) in my stomach area. I decided to look on the internet to see if there were remedies to heal it naturally. I really do not like taking medications because of the side effects. I found your website and decided to try your “Great Taste No Pain plan”. It sounded too good to be true, but after following your instructions after one day I had very little pain and then no acid reflux symptoms after that. I feel a lot better now.

Thank you so much Sherry for caring about people’s health.

Percy

After being on Prilosec for 6 years and having Gerd, Hiatal Hernia, and related problems it does not ever solve.

We just want to let you know that this is our 2nd Thanksgiving without pain, bloating, cramps or any intestinal problems because 2 yrs ago Sept 30, 2008 we found Sherry. We have been feeling good ever since after following her healthy eating lifestyle. My husband and I both have lost 30 lbs and have managed to keep this weight off.

We are healthier because of Great Taste No Pain. We will NEVER be in pain again. God bless you and Thanks Sherry

Dear Sherry,

I am a 49 year old woman who too was suffering from gastritis and a hiatal hernia. I was so miserable I lost my desire to eat, even though I was so hungry.

I had been researching gastritis on the internet and came across your website several times. I finally decided to see what it was all about. Boy am I glad I did. I ordered your Great Taste No Pain plan and cookbook and followed it. I started feeling better by day 2! It’s been about 10 days now and I feel like a new person. My energy level has skyrocketed. I used to take naps daily. I haven’t had a nap in 10 days. I have shared your website with everyone I know. They can see the difference in me.

Hi Sherry,

For most of my adult life I suffered acid reflux and, at times, could only get relief by making myself sick. Even though I knew it was not Bulimia, I was reluctant to see the doctor, for fear he would say I was bulimic. About 2000, I started getting severe pains and, knowing it was digestive related, put up with it till it passed. After one very bad bout, lasting 12 hours, when I had pain breathing, lying down, sitting, moving etc. I went to see the Doc. A scan revealed I had multiple gall stones and was put on a waiting list. Several attacks later, I pointed out to the Doc that I could not keep taking time off work and as I was taking my walking group on holiday in 2 months I couldn’t risk further attacks.

Within the month I had my gall-bladder removed and instead of “several” stones, there were over 200 – at the discharge of one a day, I could have had a further 204 days off work!! I thought this would be the end of my reflux problems, but no. Despite omitting certain known troublesome foods, bouts continued to occur regularly. A gastroscopy revealed I had a Hiatus Hernia for which I was prescribed 6 months Omeprazole.

During that time I broke my ankle and was looking at diets to control my weight as I was 11 stone. I came across one of your letters and decided to follow some of your Great Taste No Pain principles, which gave me instant relief. When I returned to the Doc, he prescribed a further 6 months of Omeprazole. I pointed out to him, that following a “foods combination” plan which was effective but he still insisted I continue with the regime. I collected the first month’s supply and used a few of the tablets, then gave up on them and never collected any more.

For the last 12 months I have been trouble-free and by eating all my fruits (and almonds as I suffered regularly from cramp) at the start of the day, I also have twice daily, easy bowel eliminations.

Thank you for your continued advice.

Jeanne

About 7 years ago I was told I had acid reflux. I started taking Prevacid as needed. It seemed to help for a while. Then about a year ago, the pain started getting worse and more often. I was sleeping on 3 pillows and downing antacids along with the Prevacid. I even had to go the doctor on several occasions to get what they called a “grasshopper” – a green drink to numb my esophagus.

Then one weekend this past summer I ate a charcoal grilled burger and the pain was on. I thought I was going to die the pain was so bad. I did everything anybody told me to do from eating a raw potato to drinking milk and warm soda water. Nothing worked. I went to the doctor and now I have a hiatal hernia. He put me on nexium for 2 months. It seemed to be getting better; I could eat anything I wanted with no pain. Then a few weeks ago I had that burger again at a church picnic. By that night I was in severe pain and nothing was helping.

The next day at church a friend over heard me talking about it and sent me your website. I started on your Great Taste No Pain plan immediately and the pain was gone within the first 2 days. I am now off all of my medicine in just 2 weeks. I am truly a believer in the program of combining my foods correctly.

Thank you soooo much for taking the time to send me the stories and information in your emails. I look forward to each day that I receive your emails. I feel more educated than ever about my body and how it works. Thank you!

Tammy M.

I am a RN and was diagnosed with having a hiatal hernia and gastritis with erosion in September 2009 according to the results of a colonoscopy and endoscopy. I was prescribed Prilosec. I found your Great Taste No Pain plan and started combining my meals according to instructions in your book. I was pain free within two (2) days of eating differently and had only taken one (1) Prilosec and threw the others away. I also lost 23 lbs. within three (3) weeks.

The plan according to Great Taste No Pain really does work.

Hi Sherry,

I’ve been on Great Taste No Pain for nine months now and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you for all your work. It is amazing how good I feel as long as I don’t get lax about following the rules. It is easy to forget when you are feeling healthy.

After years of endoscopies and taking all kinds of medications (which did not help), I am feeling great. It occurred to me that I no longer feel nauseous any longer. I had gone to several doctors for my acid reflux, hiatal hernia and nausea. When I mentioned the constant nausea they all shrugged and could not explain why. I’m happy to say since being on Great Taste No Pain, it is gone. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

The doctors like to schedule you for all kinds of test and procedures, some of which I’m sure are unnecessary. It’s great not to have to take anymore pills and to really feel good.

Thanks for all the email information. It is greatly appreciated, as are you.

Sincerely,

Dee Soll

First, let me say that I’ve been on the program for eight days now and have not had one episode of diarrhea! For this I’m truly grateful! Like many others, I have a hiatal hernia and acid reflux in addition to having had my gall bladder removed. Like you said in your newsletter, instead of getting better after the gall bladder came out, the problems not only persisted but created new ones too. I’m excited about following this program for the rest of my life and can’t wait for the detoxing to end and the energy come back.

Thank you so much for making sense and helping me to realize what I NEED to do and CAN do to feel much better.

Thanks so much and bless you!

Patt Mundie

Dear Sherry,

Thank you forever. In December of 2008 I started having horrible bloating in my stomach. My GP tried to treat me for a couple of months with medication. It didn’t help though. Then after a blood test found me positive for the H Pylori I got even more pills. 14 pills every day without a doubt one of the worst things that has ever happened to me. But sad to say after that the discomfort returned along with heartburn. Off to a specialist who did more testing, more pills, more office visits (at $50 a pop). My favorite part was sitting in his office while he talked to his wife on the phone about their Mercedes then walked me to the door with; you guessed it more pills. I switched to yet another doctor, who did more testing and more pills. When I returned to his office after another 2 months of discomfort he didn’t seem bothered by the fact that I wasn’t any better.

That was it! I was determined to no longer pay into the system that was failing me. No longer was I going to give money to the companies that made me feel just as bad after taking the medication as I did before taking it. Who knows what the medication might do later.

After starting your Great Taste No Pain it took a little trial and error on my part. Cheating means PAIN. Once I got the hang of it, gastritis pain; GONE. Hiatal hernia pain; GONE. Medication, goodbye forever.

Forever grateful,

Wendy Grande

The food combination Great Taste No Pain plan is working for me. I’ve got a hiatal hernia and never knowing when it’s going to kick in. Being a little judicious of my diet makes a difference. Thanks for offering your Great Taste No Pain plan.

Hi Sherry,

I am a married sixty one year old person, mother of six children and nineteen grandchildren, with good health until recently or so I thought, I did suffer for many years with upper back pain that sometimes felt it was coming out through to my chest. My doctor and physiotherapist said was from having big babies and I just suffered on until one day it became so painful I requested to have some tests done. It was then I was diagnosed with Hiatal Hernia. I was told there was medication that could help me but I might need to have surgery.

I went into total panic and after searching for many days discovered your website, I started your Great Taste No Pain plan and just can’t believe the comfort I felt even after one day. I continued the plan for a number of weeks but went on holidays and went back to my old way of eating, my goodness did I suffer. When I got home I started back on the Great Taste No Pain plan.

I will be forever grateful to you because now I feel so much better physically and don’t require any more medication.

Thank you Sherry.

Eileen

Dear Sherry,

For the last year I have been suffering from acid reflux and the inability to sleep. Due to my job, I work 3rd shift. A few years ago I had my gall bladder removed and hoped this procedure would solve the issues of indigestion. I was in an automobile accident over 10 years ago and suffered severe injuries, but I was blessed to recover and able to work and provide for myself and family. However, my injuries left me in severe pain, which I deal with everyday. At 62, I still go against my doctors wishes for medication. I am a firm believer in all natural remedies for basic health issues. I informed my doctor that he could keep his synthetic medication and I would take my natural herbs for my Hiatal Hernia and acid reflux.

I knew there had to be some other form of information to help solve this health issue, so I began to research on the internet and by the Grace of God found your Great Taste No Pain plan with the very information I knew had to be out there.

I tried your plan. I was amazed at the immediate results that I have experienced. I was so excited with the results that I have informed my co-workers and family members of your plan. I have not had to take any anti-acids or remedies for sleeplessness. I am so thankful that I found your we[b]site and I am eternally grateful for your e-mails that provide us with knowledge of your research.

Sincerely,

I am very grateful for being pain free with the results of all your hard work and dedication to help others!

About four weeks ago I had very sharp pains in my chest. Went to the EMER room and after all tests they said the pains I was having were not due to my heart. Later found out I have a Hiatal Hernia causing the pain.

After following your Great Taste No Pain eating plan for four days I was pain free.

The plan is great and very easy to follow.

Many Thanks

Dear Sherry,

My doctor put me on a prescription and I took two pills and felt the side effects. I found you looking for an alternative cure for hiatal hernia and acid reflux. I have been following your Great Taste No Pain plan for a week and I feel so better. The bloating and heavy feeling in my chest is gone. I have not had acid reflux. I have lost 3 of the 5 pounds I wanted to lose. I feel lighter and have more energy. I am not craving chocolate like I use to. I have not had a cookie in two weeks. Something clicked in my brain and the desire to eat sweets is gone.

Thank you, Thank you Thank you.

I started on your Great Taste No Pain program 4 weeks ago. I noticed a big improvement right away. I had just had an endoscopy and was told I had inflamed esophagus and gastritis, also hiatal hernia. I started the program the next day and stopped the meds I was on. I had been in pain in the belly and that stopped right away. I am enjoying eating again. I mean really can’t wait for my next meal to see how delicious it is going to taste.

I have lost 7 lbs. in that month time frame. A quarter or half lb. at a time and it’s what I’ve been trying to do for quite awhile. Not heavy, just too much in the gut area.

By the way, I’m 74 years old and weighed 129 lbs. when I began. I want to get back to my fighting weight of 110 and I will. My fibromyalgia pain is almost nothing now.

Hi Sherry,

I am so excited to tell you that I have been completely “Medicine-Free” for 2 weeks now, (all 10 of them) since I started following your Great Taste No Pain eating system. My stomach is nearly healed! I had one big bad Hiatus Hernia, Gastritis and 4 polyps and a life of eating unwisely.

I wholeheartedly believe that by eating correctly and wisely, in other words, by following your Great Taste No Pain plan to the “T”, I will be healthy and happy again. My belief in your program is so great that I have already ordered a program for each one of my siblings, all 5 of them. Two of them live in Holland while three of them live in Aruba. I also ordered one program for one of my nieces who has been suffering from the same problems I have.

I am so happy to say that I got them all interested and excited about it. I made sure to order an extra recipe book so they also can share with their children or friends. My husband noticed the change in me and decided to eat what I eat and when I eat!!! Your program or new eating system just makes sense in a happy and healthy world!

May the Lord bless your life with more healthy ideas for the humankind! Agnes

Hi Sherry

I am writing to tell you about myself. A year ago March 2008 I went on line searching about acid reflux and I got into to Great Taste No Pain website. I was very skeptical and do nothing.

I don’t mind telling you I am 55 years old and have been suffering with acid reflux for the pass 12 years. From December last year through February I was ready to die, and I called the doctor to tell him how I felt, he referred to me that I am crazy, and again sent me for same test he’s doing over 10 years.

I decided to go on line again and found your Great Taste No Pain plan and I put my foot down and contacted you. Since then I did try your Great Taste No Pain plan. I want to thank you Sherry. In God’s name I am free from acid reflux, gas, hernia etc.

Best

Marie Dubbinson

I have been taking Prevacid and like drugs for 12 years of reflux. Now my problems have escalated to include chronic esophagitis and gastritis complicated by a sliding hiatal hernia and possible gastro paresis. After trying your Great Taste No Pain plan I have experienced a great improvement. I expect to steadily improve with time. I’m grateful that I found your website while looking for alternatives to more medications and possible surgery.

Thanks.

Jennifer Currens

Sherry,

I just LOVE your Great Taste No Pain plan! I recently had to quit work because of the stress. The stress activated my dormant Hiatal Hernia and caused MAJOR acid reflux and I was nauseous every day, almost all day long and was regurgitating my food back up.

I was doing (5) peoples jobs and getting paid for (1). My doctor asked me if I was under alot of stress and I just laughed! Of course I was, 65 hour work weeks and still not catching up!

Long story short, I ended up in the emergency room shortly after quitting. I had chest pains and acid reflux that seemed to be putting pressure on my chest bone constantly, with a knife sharp pain!

I was diagnosed with GERD and given what the hospital calls “grasshopper” for the pain in my esophagus and a breathing treatment. Ended up I had pneumonia from the acid reflux backing up and going down the wrong pipe into my lungs every time I ate, every single time!

It’s been 5 days on your plan and I have been able to cut down dramatically on the new medicine called “Kapidex”. I also haven’t been nauseous but One time in 5 days, and that was because I didn’t follow the diet.

I thought I was going to die because this is how my dad died in 2001, from acid reflux that allowed food to get into his lungs and he already had emphysema, and was 79 and had heart trouble. They could not do anything for him.

I just wish I would have had your diet back in 2001 to give to my Dad! He would probably still be alive today!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank you!

Nancy Ressler

Dearest Sherry,

We can’t praise you enough about your system of good healthy eating with the GREAT TASTE NO PAIN method. IT REALLY WORKS !! I wish other people would just TRY IT! My husband and I are proof at age 65 that you can make a change in your health later in life.

We have been on GTNP since Sept 2008 and each of us have lost just over 25 lbs. We have stopped taking our Prilosec that we have been spending money on for the past 6 yrs. for GERD, Gastritis, Sliding Hiatal Hernia, and Esophagitis problems. WE HAVE NO PROBLEMS with those issues now thanks to you and your GTNP system. I’d like to add that we sleep better, and the system is very reasonable to keep following as saves money at the grocery store as well as medical bills by not having all the above issues and more. We try to walk a half hour a day and now spread the news of GTNP to everyone. They just can’t believe how healthy we look and feel. We even had to buy smaller clothes, latest styles, and are told we look fantastic in retirement.

Thanks so much Sherry, many blessings to you. We wish we found you much sooner but we didn’t have a computer 6 yrs ago either. Just goes to show you that nobody has to suffer each day with health issues if they just TRY IT, the GTNP way!

God bless you,

Dot & Russ Merrimac

Sherry,

I, my mother and my sister (in from New Mexico) are all following your Great Taste No Pain plan. We all suffer with indigestion. Mom and I have been diagnosed with acid reflux, hiatal hernia etc. Nexium has been a part of our lives for a while now. Everyone of us Love your system. I am happy to be Nexium free.

My sister will be taking this good news back to New Mexico. Mom will be sharing with her lady friends at Friday night card games. As for me, my mind is flooded with friends and acquaintances that I personally know that suffer with some digestive issue. They are waiting for an answer as well. THIS IS IT!

Thank you for taking the time to gather all this information to help others. If people would just give this a try, they’ll be glad they did. I’ve been doing this now for less than two weeks and like you said, “you have to follow the program.” I found out the hard way.

Sincerely,

Diane Green

Hi Sherry,

My success story involves 3 different people in my life, each of whom have a different challenge. One originally was DX hiatal hernia and was miserable. That was the first I discovered your website and was able to get the Great Taste No Pain plan. I gave her the plan. Now over a month later, she has lost 11 lbs. And has no discomfort.

The 2nd person was diagnosed with Crohn’s and I gave him your Great Taste No Pain plan. Both of these people are in mid 70′s. He is feeling better.

The 3rd person has irritable bowel and had not told anyone about it. Has been suffering for months and doctoring with meds which she cannot afford-is on Medicare. After giving her your plan she is feeling less discomfort.

Thanks so much for getting the appropriate program out there for relief!

Hi Sherry,

I want to tell you that I feel so much better. My stomach doesn’t hurt like it did. I have lost 10 pounds (from 199 to 189). I love the Great Taste No Pain plan. I just had my 71st birthday and was taken out to eat. It was so simple to stay on the plan and have a good time. For years I have had heartburn & acid reflux, plus a hernia. I still have to take my Nexium or the heart burn comes back with burn all the way to my ears. But I really believe with time I will be able to stop the Nexium also. After all it’s only been 3 weeks and I feel so much better. I really believe this plan is good for everyone no matter what’s wrong with them.

Thank you so much for all your help,

Dagmar

I have struggled with GERD, a Hiatal Hernia and constipation for many years I was taking two Nexium a day. I started your program two weeks ago I cannot believe how much better I feel I am taking one Nexium now and should stop taking all meds very soon.

Thank you for giving me my life back. I have not felt deprived in any way.

Thanks again,

Vera Frederick

Hi Sherry,

I used your Great Taste No Pain system and feel wonderful. I have been diagnosed with a hiatal hernia and a gallstone and eating everything you have on your menu helped with my symptoms. I don’t have the acid reflux and still have a little burping and I have gotten off of prilosec because it was making me sick and bloated. Luckily, I did not take it as long as some other people have that I have read on some of your testimonials.

I feel great and you have done a wonderful job in helping those who had no idea what acid does to the body. I am now letting everyone know about your website and hopefully they will take a look at it.

You are god sent.

Hi Sherry,

I must say it did work. I was suffering from acid reflux and I have a hiatal hernia. I found by following your Great Taste No Pain plan I feel fine and stopped taking Zegerid which I was taking twice a day.

Thanks so much

Patricia

Dear Sherry,

You are absolutely correct–100%–about the “purple pill.” I had been on Nexium for about 5 years due to a large hiatal hernia, acid reflux, gas, bloating, and IBS— just awful.

I had seen the specialists, and finally discovered your plan out of desperation looking up IBS on the net.

I have followed your plan to the letter for approx. 1.5 weeks. I was COMPLETELY pain free the first day (and symptom free) and have been ever since.

You are so right on when you say we need naturally occurring acids in our stomach. I am enjoying foods I couldn’t eat for years.

I am totally off Nexium, plus I need no gas pills, no Pepcid and no Imodium.

Thanks for giving me a second chance–We are truly what we eat!

I am most grateful.

Hi Sherry:

I found your plan after having recently been diagnosed with gastritis and an esophageal hernia.

I was in more or less constant pain with my stomach and the specialist prescribed a proton pump inhibitor and told me to avoid spicy foods and alcohol.

I was on the medication for just six weeks but I didn’t feel it was of much benefit.

I also read about all the side-effects of the medication – the primary one being that reducing stomach acid production leads to undigested food passing through the gut and hence nutrient absorption being reduced, etc.

I started your plan and within 2 days decided to stop taking my medication. My stomach was much calmer at this stage and over a week into the plan I can say that I am pain free now pretty much all the time, which I feel shows I am well on the road to total recovery.

I have also found that my energy levels are much more even.

I have felt much better on the plan and have also lost some weight effortlessly which is beneficial as I could do with reducing my waistline somewhat!

Overall I must say that I am delighted with your plan.

Best regards,

Patrick Bryan

Sherry:

I am writing to tell you that I have been using this program for a week now and I am very surprised at how good I am feeling.

One week ago I was suffering terribly from pain from my hiatal hernia, IBS, gerd, etc. I had bloating that would not go away no matter what I did or what I took. I have been suffering for years!

It is 6 days and counting and my stomach is 95% better! To say I’m shocked and relieved is an understatement.

I really do think I will be able to stick with this way of eating and I am very happy I took the time to read your information and order your Great Taste No Pain program.

Thank you,

Cindy K

Dear Sherry,

First, I am sending my heartfelt appreciation for the benefits I have enjoyed since starting your program. I sincerely applaud your ‘Great Taste No Pain’ program.

I am 85 years old and I am happily married to my husband of 66 years. However, my life has been miserable for the past several months with almost continuous bloating, constipation, abdominal pain and chest pain.

I have been treated by my family physician, my cardiologist, my oncologist, my urologist and my gastroenterologist.

I have learned that, in addition to my hiatal hernia and other problems, I have a problem with my aortic valve which is considered severe but not critical.

Surgical procedures are not recommended because at my age the risk is too great, and laxatives, antacids and prescriptions gave me no relief.

My husband found your website on the internet, and I immediately started your program. I almost went into shock when my pain and other symptoms started subsiding after the first meal.

My health continued to improve until at this time (one week on your program), and I have no pain, indigestion or constipation. Furthermore, I do have more energy and I am once more able to enjoy my golden years.

I attribute my recovery entirely to the help from your program, and I want you to know that it is a great blessing

Sherry,

I have been on your plan now for one week and two days. The end of the first day I noticed a marked improvement in comfort. I stuck to it totally the first 2 3/4 days. However, we were traveling and so I deviated a tiny bit, yet still improved. When we got home I just continued on as I was feeling so much better.

At the end of one complete week I told my husband I could not believe how much better I felt.

I have a hiatal hernia and constant sinuses. Here are my improvements to date.

- Soreness and burning between rib cage is 85% improved. – Constant feeling to eat with the idea that my stomach would feel better is gone. – Cravings are gone. – Nausea feeling is gone. – Vaginitis/itching are gone. – Sinuses have improved 75%. – Constant cough from drainage is almost gone.

Overall, I have great improvement in a very short period of time. I’ve have sinuses since I was 48 and am now 67 years.

Hi Sherry,

I’m so thankful to you and your program. I now know that I am on the right track to a healthy life. I am 78 years of age and have been diagnosed with diverticulosis, Hiatal Hernia, Acidic Polyps in the stomach, Arthritis (hip, spine, & jaw), and Acid Reflux. The burning in the chest has ceased.

My current family doctor has prescribed Prilosec. First, it was one tablet in the morning (an hour before eating), and one tablet in the evening before bed. Then he increased it to two in the morning and two at night. He said that if that doesn’t work, then it could be increased to as much as 8 tablets a day. NO WAY!

This past Wednesday, I had a doctor’s appointment and told him that I was feeling great. He was pleased with that, plus the fact that I had lost eight pounds. Of course, he believes that I am getting better because of what he has prescribed. What he didn’t know was that I had stopped taking the Prilosec.

When I go back to him, I will tell him that I don’t need the Prilosec anymore and that I’m getting better because of what I am eating. I never realized before that the bloating and the gas were caused by the wrong combination of foods. It’s been said that you are never too old to learn something new, so I believe that I am a living example of that. Thanks Sherry.

Hi Sherry

My name is Ava Barrett and I am nearly 60 years old. For the past two years I have suffered problems with my digestion.

I have been diagnosed with gall stones, hiatal hernia and GERD and prescribed antacids and a proton pump inhibitor called Lansoprazole. My specialist made me believe my condition was quite trivial and just told me to take the medication as and when I needed it.

I am sure the medication made matters worse and I eventually reached the point where I just did not know what to eat because literally everything I ate gave me pain and made me so uncomfortable.

In desperation I went on the internet to look for possible solutions and came across your site. I was interested immediately as the idea appealed to me much more than taking drugs for the rest of my life.

I tried your system and found it worked almost immediately. I have even mentioned the regime to others I know who have similar problems and recommended they take a look at your site.

Thank you so much.

Ava Barratt
